I've noticed that the rubber in many of my engine mounts is getting pretty
ratty, so I'm up for changing it out.

Anybody have any experiencing doing this? We thought we'd just get a strap
and lift the engine a bit and replace the ones we can get to easily, but I
have that sneaking suspicion I get right before things don't go so well.

Besides lifting the engine slightly to relieve the weight from the engine
mount rubbers, I'd suggest removing the generator and the magnetos. It will
make the job significantly easier. Before you remove the mags, remove any
grease or oil around the base of the mag where it mates with the accessory
case. Then using a Sharpie pen make 3 vertical marks between the base of
the magneto and the case about 1/4" to 3/8" apart. The marks will enable
you to reinstall the magnetos in precisely the same location and not have to
retime the magnetos. Replace one rubber mount at a time. The attached
document should help with how tight the plates, nuts and washers should be.
