Hello group ,I am in the process of fitting my horz stabilizer to the fuselage .I have looked in my plans and have found no mention of angle of incidence .Should this be fit up square & level in a neutral position .All suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi all,
Came in tonight from working on my 701 because I hit a road block. When I checked my email I saw the post requesting info on the horizontal stab angle of incidence. This is what I needed to know also, except for a 701. After reading the reply about the info for the 601 being on the Zenith web site I went and looked for the 701 info for a couple of hours with no luck.
Sooooo.... please forgive me but is the stab on the 701 installed parallel to the top longeron as it is on the 601? Guys I really looked everywhere I could think of.

Wayne,
Take a look at 7H3, upper right corner. It shows that the front and rear stab brackets are to be mounted 135mm above ref line A-E. A little anomoly here.. those brackets are 135mm tall themselves, so that means they are to be located right on line A-E... but that cannot work as that imaginary line (A-E) is lower than the top of the fuse, so I believe that means to mount the brackets right at the top of the fuse. Of course, it then needs to be adjusted so that each tip is equal distance from a common point near the front of the fuse (like the 601), and also so that when viewing from the rear of the plane, it matches the 'level' of your wings (I wait til the wings are rigged before final drilling, just my personal choice).

Wayne.
The horiz stab is mounted 135mm from the top of the fuse to the top of the stab. You first level the fuse as per instructions on the drawings. Remember the fuse is bowed and you can't just put a level on the top and call it good. Then you level the stab in two directions, front to back and side to side, this you can use a level for. Then like Jon says, adjust the stab to be 90 degrees with the center line of the fuse. Like Jon I used a string to a central point on the front of the fuse. Then drill your mounting holes.
