Well, OSH is just over a month away now, and in LESS than a month,
there will be some of us with official on-site campsites!

First, I should say this: If you're going to OSH, it's probably just
not a good idea for all many hundreds of us to blast to the email list
our traveling intentions and dates...that's a lot of junk mail. So,
if you email me about OSH, please send it as an individual email to me
(or Bob, or Gary, or ...) and not to the list. Not that everyone isn't
glad you're coming, but it'll just get lost in the shuffle.

This year should be a great one for RV-10 fans, with over 85 flying
RV-10's I'd estimate we see perhaps up to 25-30 of them possibly show
up at the show...maybe more, if we can rouse their interest.

We've got plans in place for RV-10 Headquarters, the campsite grouping
in Camp Scholler where you can go to meet lots of RV-10 builders. This
should be a lot of fun this year if we can get people to plan and think
ahead a bit. Personally, I'd love to camp by my plane, but until we
get more like 150 flying RV-10's, I just don't think it'll be as
"group" oriented so I'm sticking with the Camp Scholler thing for
another year. The plan right now is that Bob Condrey and Gary Specketer
are showing up early to grab great campsites, and Bob will be happy
to reserve one for you....IF YOU'RE WILLING TO PAY HIM IN ADVANCE.
Last year got a little wild with last-minute showings and unplanned
attendance, so this year we're just going to do it all nice and
legal-like and we're going to officially rope off and pay for our sites
all in one group. This will mean a couple things: 1) If you're
interested in hanging with the group, there WILL be room for you
because we'll make room. 2) You'll perhaps want to get some good
coordination together for the camping. The reason is, you pay for
campsites from the day you reserve them, all the way through the
end of the show. And obviously, if we want to reserve sites together,
we need to pay and reserve them together...that's what Bob will
do for us. Yes, this means that you'll pay approximately $19 X 12
days = $228 for your site for all those days. But, you get benie's...
You get a parking pass with your site, so you can park on it. You
also get an awesome site that will be much easier to get back and
forth from during the show. Check out last year's sites:
http://www.myrv10.com/osh/RV10_HQ_2006.jpg
Those of you who've done this before know the value of a nearby
campsite. Scholler is HUGE, with something like 40,000 campers
if I remember what I heard right...and you DON'T want to be on the
way outside rows. We may even be close enough this year to be
in the wooded area, which would be awesome.

When you leave the site for the week, they will refund you for your
unused days (3 day minimum though), so I've tried to make things
easier for you to coordinate by starting a camping chart here:
http://www.myrv10.com/osh/OSH_2007_RV10HQ.jpg
With that chart, you can find someone else who's leaving early and
perhaps arrange to start paying for their site from the time that they
leave...that way you can share a site the remaining days. My
suggestion..... Book a site, offer off your extra days, but split
the total overall cost between you on a total percentage of time
occupied basis. That way you can share the cost of the pre-show
(17th through 23rd) too. Bob is going on the 17th to reserve
all of the sites, if I forgot to mention that....but only if you
pre-pay him before he leaves.

We'll also be perhaps arranging an RV-10 cookout one night so that
the attending people on the sites can all gather for a meal.
More to come on that later.

This is going to be a lot of work, so please bear with me if things
don't move ultra fast, but I've got the RV-10 builders list revamped
a little to accommodate the OSH 2007 show now. What you can do,
if you haven't done it for a while, is go re-enter your info on
the builders list using this link: http://www.myrv10.com/osh.html
That way I can verify and update your info, and get you on the list
for you days that you plan to attend OSH. This can be a central
clearing house of information to help you locate your fellow
builders at the show. I've got fields for if your dates of
attendance, if you're going to the BBQ or Banquet, if you're
bringing kids and what ages they are, and if you're camping in
RV-10HQ. If you're intending on leaving your campsite early, let
Bob know when you arrange camping with him and he'll make sure
I enter it on the chart right so you can try to round up someone
to continue the site.

So there you go...it's officially kicked off. Camp Scholler
actually opens TOMORROW, so if anyone wants to waste a few
thousand bucks as a gift, we could even rope them off right
away. Wink

Again, sorry if my responses get a little slow at times...I'm
trying to continue both a job and a life while I do this, but it'll
be great to help coordinate and bring you all together.

PS: The Builders List page will now be updated with new OSH info
as we get it, so check it often and don't forget your login.

A little more -
My mailing address will be on the attendee list
(www.myrv10.com/osh.html) if you want to mail a check for the campsite
fee. I can also accept PayPal but I need to ask you to pick up their
processing fee of $6.91 (making the total $234.91). Finally, the site
will be registered in your name and I'll need you to send me your EAA
membership number to include on the registration.

I talked with Gary a little earlier today and he's also willing to get
sites ahead of time but later in the week (starting Friday instead of
Tuesday 7/17, etc). He will make every effort to get something close to
the rest of the group but you need to understand that Camp Scholler
starts filling very quickly the few days before the show start on
Monday.

Bob

And just in case anybody needs reminders or motivation, Tim has pictures
from last year in his photo album
http://www.myrv10.com/miscphotos/OSH2006/index.html

All of the campsite pictures (including Stein on the motorized couch)
are in the RV-10 HQ area. Down toward the bottom of the web page
picture rv_10_hq_996.jpg shows how things were late in the week of the
show - we only had 3 campsites and the motorhomes at the left and right
ends of the picture are taking up 2 of them. It was getting tough to
actually get around the campsites - that's why we're trying to be a bit
more organized this year...
