Greetings,

I received my copy of the ARS VI book last week and finally had a chance
to look it over. I'm hoping you'll take this as an unbiased review...

Those who know me know I can be quite critical when it comes to the
reproduction of my images. The color balance and sharpness of the
photographs in the book have been reproduced wonderfully. I was quite
impressed, as my photographer peers promised I would be. From the deep
colors of the twilight taxiway lights at KPTV to the vibrant contrast of
the night shots, they all printed brilliantly.

My only gripe regarding quality was the slightly oversaturated dust
cover which caused me to initially fear the worst. Fortunately the dust
covers are printed on a different press with a slightly varied color
curve than the rest of the book. The other issue was of course the
price. If this becomes a viable project next year, the book will be
printed in the smaller 8x10 format instead of the oversized 11x13. This
should cut the price by 1/3, though the number of pages and images may
remain the same. This book maxed out at 80 pages with 120 images.
Anything higher than 80 pages would have bumped the price up to the next
level.

On that note, I know a few of you have already ordered and hopefully
received your book. I look forward to hearing your opinions, good or
bad. This will denote my further working with this company along with
deciding if all the work of putting together a book is worth the
effort. If anyone has any questions or ideas, please let me know.

If you haven't seen the book, it can be found and purchased here:
http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/58151

And a preview of all the images found in the book can be seen here:

Again, many thanks for allowing me to work with you guys.
Tyson

I like the book. I like Blurb.com. I have done books with the
native Mac software in iPhoto - Blurb has more templates and variety
to be creative with the book. Keep up the good work and com to OSH !!
