You could buy one already built! Then the builders Liability would pass thru your heirs.
Just an Idea......and it would get you flying much quicker.

Bob,
You only live once (for certain {:>)). If you ever had a dream of
building/flying your own aircraft, I would say go for it. See a Lawyer and
put your assets in an appropriate trust (remove it from your estate) for
your potential widow. Then build and fly your aircraft. I waited until I
was 59 and only wish I had done it 33 years sooner when I first had the
itch.
That my take on it. Be prudent, but DON'T let the lawyers or threats of
lawsuits (none of which I am aware have ever been successfully take against
a homebuilder) take your dream.
