Folks,

I am installing the butt ribs on a Model 4-1200. I noticed that the butt ribs cover (slightly) the bolt and clevis holes for wing attachment. Has anyone else experienced this, and did you modify the butt ribs (cut them back) so that they no longer interfere with the bolt and clevis?

Kent,
On my Classic 4 I had to trim a slight amount off the front of the Butt Rib cap strip to have clearance for the clevis pin. The rear I can't remember and there is no mention in my builders log of trimming.

The top cap strip of the butt rib must match up with the number one rib. If there is a little interference with the front wing pin and rear attach bolt I would say butt ribb needs to be trimed to clear them.

Thanks, Tom!

In looking at the manual (more closely), it looks like they trimmed the capstrips as well. One more question... why does the manual show 4 brackets in the photos on page WB-12, but then describes using only 3 on page WB-13???? I have 8 brackets and plan on using all of them.

Kent, my manual is the same as yours and my kit included 8 brackets. I used them all. I guess the manual didn't get updated as fast as the airplane evolved. There are a few other puzzeling instructions you will run into...if you haven't already...that will keep you wondering.
