What have others done when putting in there fuel senders. Are people using
the rubber supplied gasket in addition to the proseal or just using the
proseal?
Thanks,

Cork gaskets work better. The rubber ones distorted after a few hours and I replaced them with cork.

Throw out the gasket and just use sealant.....and a dab of it under each
screw head as well. As you tighten, it will squidge out and make a perfect
gasket.
Cheers....

John,
Look through the archives. You will find that you will get both
answers, use the gasket and don't use the gasket. I don't remember the
suggestion to replacing the rubber gasket with cork gasket. In my mind,
there is no convincing argument one way or the other.
My summary of what has been writen:
Use the gasket, it will ease removal of the sender in the future.
No gasket, the proseal will form the gasket, don't have to worry about
rubber or cork failure.

Just to add more fuel to the consideration. Why not use the cork gasket
and coat it with tank sealant as well including a fillet between the
unit and the upper surface of the wing?

I think this is what I did with the black colored gaskets that
came with mine....covered both sides in proseal and stuck it
on. I figured if I had to pull the sender, this would let me
pop it off easier by cutting the seal, and then I'd have the
sender off to give access to scrape the old sealant from
the tank. Not sure if it's perfect, but it's leak free
so far.
Incidentally, this is what I do when opening up my vehicle's
differentials, transmissions, and things like that too...I coat
the gasket with RTV and install.

A final presentation in my proseal classes is the use of fiberglass
reinforced plastic scrapers (they come in various shapes, sizes, colors
and ends) which are always used to remove the old sealant for service
and final reapplication before return to operations.
