All-
The list pulls through again. Rarely do you get a complete answer from one lister, but you will, eventually.
There are two stages to the Loctite website re: local outlets. The first stage said the closest FULL LINE retailer was 100 miles away in Ohio. The second stage said the closest retailer who STOCKED WHAT I WANTED was less than 1/2 hour drive away. I called them, and they have 5 bottles each of all the differing sizes of 620 in stock.
I can make the round trip for less than $5 in gas, and since I'm on vacation, who cares about the time? It's a matter of principle.
Compare this to MCS's $10 HANDLING CHARGE. Not SHIPPING and handling. The last time I ordered a ball mill from ACS, the price of the tool was less than $3. My total bill was nearly $20!
If you walked into an auto parts store and said "I need a turn signal bulb", wouldn't you be a little miffed if they charged you $10 to find the bulb on their shelves, put the bulb in a bag, and ring up the transaction?
Like I said, it's a matter of principle. I don't begrudge Loctite the cost of their product, but I do MCS for making the customer pay for what is a normal cost of doing business.

Bill, when I moved to Nova Scotia 30'ish years ago it seemed that all the stores were simply order points and actually had no stock. Usually by the time you had something in your hands it was yours with no possibility of returning it at all. Things got much better but now with every place trying to "cut costs" read "maximize profit" it's going back that way. I've come to be grateful when I can get something at all, I'm way past worrying about how much they hose me to send it.

Does your State or Province have "inventory" taxes. You know, where taxes go up if you try to keep a good inventory? One of our best customers is in Taxxachusetts where they apparently have big inventory taxes. Their orders to our plant die around November and stay dead through inventory time at the end of the year, then explode the first week in January as they try to make up for lost time. I assume the State tax policy causes this.

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Bill, now that your blood pressure has gone down some, let me 'splain something. Loctite is chemical stuff. By virtue of the wisdom of the feds, chemical stuff may or may not be shipped as benign stuff, or hazardous stuff, treated similarly to bichloro-trichloro-polynasty, If somebody with more authority than sense designates Loctite as hazardous, unfriendly, or even yucky, they can make the shipper (and the buyer) jump through all sorts of hoops. And their justification is (deep breath, now) "Because I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you." Loctite ain't the only stuff treated like radioactive doo-doo. Try buying a little half-ounce squeeze tube of the brightly colored paint you use to put a dab on nuts and cables to telltale if they slip.

If you can use Loctite 271 instead, I found it at Orchards for $7.00.

This was for a very small tube.

Paul-
I didn't know a tool that's essentially a fancy drill bit was a biohazard. I don't have to calm down- I already made my decision not to do business with MCS, which is why I asked for and received help from listers who actually read their compadres posts without preexisting bias. Thanks, JDR.

Hello All:

I just checked the MSC website and they have Loctite 620 in three sizes, the 10 ML bottle (at) $16.49 order no. 97116891. If you go to: www.mscdirect.com you can search with the order no. and it will come right up.

I'd suggest buying the BIG bottle; 250 ML for only $154.70.

All-
I bought the 50ml bottle from a local distributor listed on the Loctite website for $44.71. This should be enough for 1, possibly 2 engines. They had the 10ml bottle for $14.50, but you're going to need more than one.
