Jonathan,



There is usually a builders dinner during AirVenture. Check in with the 

Zenith booth early in the week and sign up. You can usually line up a ride 

into town to the dinner if you don't have your own transportation. I usually 

take a rider or two with me each year. I camp on  the field.

Hope to see you and all the other Zenith builders/flyers there.

  No, that wasn't me. It was most likely Mike or Ron. 

  The last event I attended was the Cloverdale fly in with my wife.  They only send us engineers go to the big shows.

I can't figure how to tow my Travel Trailer with my 601HD. Since I'm there 

for a week and a half, ( work some as a volunteer ) I like the creature 

comforts.

I've mentioned this before at the Zenith dinner atr Oshkosh, but I'll bring  it up again.  

  

 I've noticed that some aircraft kit manufacturers (Sonex) arrange to have  examples of their product parked together in close proximity to their  display.  I think this is a great idea.  In years past, it's been  possible to see anywhere from 6-12 flying examples of Sonex's....all parked in a  row....or at least close together.  But when I try to find Zeniths, they're  spread all over the place.  There's one here...and another one a mile away  over there...never close together.  Would it be possible to request  the folks at Oshkosh to allow Zenith builders to park their planes somewhat  close to each other.....possibly even close to the Zenith display?  

  

 I hope to fly my 601XL to Oshkosh next year.   I would love  to show it to fellow builders and potential builders.  I think it would be  great to be able to look at a dozen 601s.....and 701s....all parked within a  short distance of each other....even a hundred yards apart.   As it  is,  I have to search and walk for miles, literally, to see Zenith planes  that builders have flown in to AirVenture.

I'm planning on flying mine there. I'll probably park it in the auto 

engine section, right in front of the Homebuilt Headquarters.

Two years ago we had six 601s parked together near the north end of the 

homebuilt area. My first night, I parked in homebuilt camping but moved 

it over with the others the next day and moved my camp to vintage 

camping with a bunch of members of my home chapter. I don't think this 

601 grouping was planned in advance, they all just got there early and 

spotted other 601s and found space nearby.

I am pretty sure that some of the RANS owners are arranging to park their planes across from the RANS booth this year.  They have been organizing it via the RANSFlyers Yahoo group.  I am not sure what the current count of planes is, but they should have a few. 

  

 I have been a member of the RANSFlyers group for a while now and you won't meet a nicer or more helpful group of folks.  Spin by and say hi if you get a chance.  (I, unfortunately, will not be there.)

Dave,  

            I have noticed and complained about the same thing at both Oshkosh and Sun-N-Fun.  Sonex may have an advantage by being a tenant on the airport at OSH.  Anyway, my response has been to organize the Zenith Gathering to accomplish having a place to hangar fly with fellow enthusiasts physically near our planes.  We will be able to park our planes near the Zenith tent in Winchester this September.

I live in Oshkosh and have a hanger on the East side of the field.  I have a 601 HDS and had it on the flight line the last two years.  When I taxi to the other side of the field with a sign "HBP" they put me in line with the other Zenith planes to the East of the Zenith booth and just to the South of the Sonex parked planes.

I plan on flying out on Saturday or Sunday and staying the whole week. 

My flight schedules will, of course depend on the weather. Flying in 

from north of Detroit.
