Hi,
Possum sent me his old video equipment when he updated. He of course is in the south and they "don't need no stinking enclosure" there so he wore a helmet with the camera mounted on the top. Here in the North west it gets a bit nippley in the winter months so I have one on my plane. I first tried the camera mounted on the side of the plane, too much vibration. Then I mounted it on the nose cone, side braced it, balanced my prop, still too much vibration. So I zip tied it to the side of my headset, since I don't have room enough to put it on top of anything on my head. I also mounted his "bow sight" on the bill of my cap so that I could tell what I was taking pictures of. All of my other attempts gave me a good sight of the ground in front of me, not the big picture. Now this is better, still far from perfect as you will see from the videos, but somewhat better. I still get windshield tubes and an occasion heater hose in the way and since it is mounted on the side, it gives the appearance of side slipping. I also noticed that I had it a bit cocked as well as aimed a bit high. This time however there were not any bugs on the camera lens.
My baud rate is somewhere around 400 but it still would not upload the whole thing so it is broken into four different segments.
The portion of the Owyhee Canyon that it takes place in is the "wild and scenic" part above Rome Oregon. There are no roads down in there and it is a bit tight in some places. The walls are about 400 feet high or better in some places. It took a bit better than 7 minutes to traverse the part that I flew. Speed was 60 + rpm's were 5900. I chose a side canyon to get down to the bottom. I wish there was a landing spot there. There is a pool that looks very promising. The only problem is that it is rough enough getting there you would have to take a frying pan with you. Too much trouble to bring fish out.

Each clip is about 1.5 minutes long and they are in order.

You definitely need to put amphib floats on that flying machine of
yours... you could have easily landed and taken off on that last bit
of river!

Larry C:
Enjoyed the clips.
John W and I flew the canyon last May. Brought back some fond
memories.
Guarantee it will make your heart pump a little faster the further you
get into the canyon. As far as I could tell, you had not gotten up
there to the point the cayon walls become vertical nearly to the top.
At one point, John W was down in the canyon and I was flying high bird
to help keep him clear of "bad" situations. About the time I keyed my
mike to tell him to climb out, he had already started his climb. Up
ahead was a narrow slot canyon with a 90 degree turn to the left, and
more slot canyon ahead of that. A really exciting place to fly.
Beautiful too.
