Looking at the 2 attached pics of the left and right side of my engine, what would be the best place to install the EGT sensors.
Just thought I'd get some input from anyone who might know if there is a best way to do it. There are 4 of them for my GRT EIS.
Thanks
Brian

Hi! I don’t profess to be any authority but the locations are already welded into my new 914.
Forward two positions are on the outside of the bend slightly outboard approx 3” from the head.
Aft positions are on the inside of the bend again slightly outboard 5” from the head. But the type of my sensors puts a probe right into the gas stream, yours may be clamp on and therefore different.

Brian,
You might consider consulting the 912s install manual
page 7-1:
70 cm (2.75in) from the exhaust flange
also see page 10-1 in same book
70 cm, 2.76 in downstream from exhaust flange
The bayonet should clamped so that the its tip is in the center of the pipe.
This is the place you should have looked first since it is the gold-standard.
If someone offers a different opinion, they should have a good reason, and
have a new scale of temps at that location so you know how to intrepret
the data.

Bob,
Is your exhaust system the standard Europa FWF kit?
It is probably my retched memory playing tricks again, but I thought
the 914 routinely came with 2 EGT bungs.
The 912 kit of course comes with none from either Rotax or Europa
as Rotax does not require it. I have the two I welded in (2.75" or is
it 2.76") from the flange and would welcome two more if I had the
downtime to get them in.

Hi! Ira
No my engine is from Europa but as a replacement for the Jabiru 3300.
Although I did get the Firewall Forward Kit from Europa for a 914. It
has welded bungs with blanking caps on all exhaust pipes two caps of
which I've removed to put in Westach sensors.
