Hello group ,I am seeing some light at the end of the tunnel .Today I fitted and drilled the top middle skin to the fuselage . Question : when installing the L angles inside the top middle skin ,does the L angle slide between the skin and bulkhead at the rear or does it only butt up to it . Wade Jones South Texas

It is a little hard to tell but I believe the L's overlap the bulkhead at the rear of the baggage compartment AND the tubular hoop. Page 7 of the rev 2.2 photo guide 6-B-21C says "The front of the L angles are behind the tube frame 6B21-2". Another clue is that they have you lay out the rivet lines between rivets on the bulkhead and hoop (page 6 of the photo guide). And if you look closely at the side view on 6-B-21 in the plans you will see dashed lines for the L's extending into the bulkhead.

BTW: I think that if you look closely at the photo at the top of page 9 of the 6-B-21C rev 2.2 photo guide you can see that the L goes inside the lip of the bulkhead, not between the skin and the lip. I think you will only see this in the high resolution picture in the CD version of the guide, not the lower resolution ones that you can download from the Zenith web site.

If you don't have the CD version I can send you a few outtakes.

Wade, I cut and trimmed mine so that the flange touching the skin extends between the skin and the bulkhead and the same at the tube. I like for any "overlap" on a stiffener to disappear into the joint rather than looking like it was slapped on as an afterthought. Probably doesn't make a big difference either way.
