Sony iPod Adapter XA-110IP + Sony C90 Deck = Not

So my new Sony XA-110IP iPod Adapter arrived today and I quickly connected it up to an 80GB Video iPod and a Sony C90 deck. That's about where the fun ended. The iPod's display showed the XPlod logo so that connection seemed to be working. The C90, on the other hand, just kept resetting, likely because the XA-110IP wasn't responding on the Unilink bus as it expected.I also tried connecting to another much new Sony Deck, a CDX-MP40, but observed the exact same result - continual resetting of the deck. I thought about firing up my Unilink monitor to see what's going on, but, figured what's the point...

Now I have to ask Sony, why-o-why couldn't they just emulate a standard CD or MD changer so that the XA-110IP would be compatible with every Unilink equipped Deck made in the last 10-15 years? Looking over the XA-110IP's user manual, there is absolutely *nothing* you can do from the head unit that isn't a standard CD Changer function. Even the track display is the same. So WHY did they have to create a new Unilink device type (I'm guessing here) that would render the XA-110IP completely incompatible with most every Sony head unit ever made...?

Grufff, that's BS...

Sorry to hear. I am also striking out in getting any info on that other "connect2" iPod-to-Unilink adaptor. It appears to be available in the UK only - I can not get in touch with any US dealers. Th PAC Aux Unilink Adaptor is still acting squirrely with the XDP/C90 Sad What to do?

On a positive note, my 200 Amp alternator will be here next week, and I got the JBL W12GTi's installed Smile

Though its not ideal, you can hook up the ipod to the analog inputs for the radio. I personally hooked it into the analog ins that i was using for the xm radio.

The only reason its not ideal is that the output of the ipod i believe is only 1 volt. So its not as loud as it should be. I think i could make a setting on the xdp to crank the gain up 9 db on every channel and use that xover setting when i use the ipod? Just havent had the motivation to try that. Plus im at zero or below for all the xover gains, so ymmv.

For randy this is probably what he wants, and it was only a few bucks for the 1/8 stereo to female rca...

Im not certain but you could probably modify the ipod for higher output or use a headphone amp instead?
