I live in the Florida panhandle and this has worked for me. I used to have a Beech 23 tied down at Milton (2R4) and could not fly it away due to a TFR. I laid about five sandbags down each wing spar. The weight is not enough to cause damage, but was enough to prevent the bags blowing away. Even though the entire span was not covered, enough was. I had considered old tires tied on, but rejected that because I couldn't find any on short notice. I then moved into a hangar and the next year, IVAN blew in almost all of the hangar doors that faced south. Mine failed like the rest. Inadequate support at the bottom caused the door bottom to blow inward and clip off the mains. The door then fell on top of the bird and totaled it.
