I was about to order a Whelen tail light assembly, but they come in a variety of configurations. One of the choices is vertical or horizontal. Does vertical mean it is to be mounted a vertical surface like the trailing edge of the tail? Or does vertical mean the light build would be pointing up? The one I need would be for the trailing edge. Thanks.

On page 24 of their 2007 aviation catalog, they explain that the H or V indicates the position of the mounting screws relative to the light shield. So a vertical mounting would go on the trailing edge of a vertical surface and the horizontal mounting would go on the trailing edge of a horizontal surface.http://www.whelen.com/pb/pb.php?tier1=Aviation

I purchased the 11-04763 AeroFlash nav/st/pos dbl flash units and am in the process of making the mounting surface on the wing tip. With these two fixtures all the lighting left/right/above/below/rear will be covered. Just something to be considered. Cost from ACS was $473.
