Does anyone have a smoke system in a Yak 55? I have the
Smokingplanes system in the Yak 52. Mounted in the rear deck. I do
not like the location's effect on the CG especially with a back
seater. Although I did inverted spins and tumbles with the tank half
full and a 160 lb GIB with no effect on recovery. Its a little
inconvenient to fill also and it would be nice to have more
capacity. I have had good luck, good performance, and no maint
problems out of the system. Just wondering about alternatives for
the 55 - even if people have used the Smokingplanes system - I would
like to know how and where they have mounted.
Thanks,
Herb

Hello Herb,
"Janie", our Yak 52 (registered G-CBSS in the UK) has smoke system.
Installed by Yak UK behind the back seat. About 20 liters.
With a reversible pump and a refill point on her belly !!
Leaks a little bit but other than that ... no problem.
And Yes, we do Flat spins and Lomcovaks ... with smoke. )
You can contact Yak UK or Termikas for more info.
See attached pictures.
Cheers,
Etienne Verhellen.
