I wonder if anyone has successfully installed a electric flap actuator system in the CH701.

If so, what components and from whom did you acquire them.

Any ideas on how many pounds of force it may take, especially when extending them in flight.

George, I am installing the a SPAL linear actuator
from Surlus Center. I have not completed the
installation yet but am working on some of the
details.

SPAL also makes a controller box that will give you
three preset positions. I am also planning on using
this controller setup.

Unfortunately, that is all of the information I have
at this time.

George,

I am also using the SPAL linear actuator from Surplus Center. The actuator is rated at 110 pounds with a 550 pound static load. Although I don't have my plane flying yet, I'm confident it's plenty of force for the flaps.

I decided to mount the flap motor on the front of 7F6-1 in line with the bottom of the flaperon control mount. It is bolted to the Flaperon control mount with an AN4-20 in the same place the flaperon control lever would normally go. The position is ideal because it allows easy access and maintenance to the motor through the rear access panel. I ran the idea past ZAC and they suggested adding a doubler to reinforce the channel 7F6-1 and a gusset between 7F6-1 and the z bracket around the access hole. This is to prevent twisting of the channel during flap operation.

I'll try to send pictures and the plans I sent to ZAC, although they're not that great. Good Luck on your project.

Great information! Will follow up and see if I can find Surplus Center stuff.

Pictures of your install would be greatly appreciated.

Again, thanks for all the great info.

This list is a great resource!
