Such a tragic ending for such a stupid problem.

Be safe and check that seat belt.

It is pretty hard to beat a Hooker harness.

I have a 7 points Hooker in my CJ (Yes, I know its an overkill, but is was a gift) When I installed it (about 6 years ago) it already had been used in an Extra 300 for 2 years.

I will install a new set along with new bolts this winter. Life is just too short.

I have a seven point in the 50 also. One seat belt mounts to the normal
swiveling mount on the seat base and I mounted the other to seat pins on the
floor. I did that instead of making an additional fitting attached to an aft
bulkhead along with the additional cable attachment to the seat. Have to be
careful after you pull the seats to not twist the belt (flip the turnbuckle)
when you reinstall the seat pins. It will make for a lot of frustration when
hooking up the crotch strap before TO. Done that, got the T shirt, and don't
want it again!

to the yak 55 guys out there be aware of the fact that the side straps for the harness are terminated in the bucket seat and not in the frame. high g's will pull out on the bucket rather than on the central structures. We moved the seat back since I am too tall for the cockpit and in so doing we had to remove the bucket. I was surprised to see the lateral harness straps attaching to the bucket itself. We corrected it by adding eye extensions into the central frame longerons. You may want to get a mirror and look down there.
