correct from their site http://www.trutrakflightsystems.com/documents/OrderFormPriceList.pdf
Servo- $2350 (RV-10AP includes mounting brackets, torque enhancer, wiring harness, and associated AN hardware)

Digiflight IIVSGV $2975 -
total $5225

This brings up another question. I recall looking through the archives that someone mentioned getting it for the "other wing if your getting the aileron trim from Vans"- did anyone do anything special when ordering, or does it even matter with the servo which wing it goes on?
Thanks!

Yes it does matter. The bracket is different based on which wing the wing servo goes into. Normal is in the right wing.

Before you buy....make note. You'll get a much better price
buying from a dealer. (yeah, I'm partial to SteinAir. Wink )
I made the mistake of buying some parts direct, and later
found out I paid more than I needed to.

Also check Stark Avionics. I bought my TT autopilot there, and got what I
felt was the best price, and excellent service.

Pascal,

Normally TT will send the kit for the right wing, but if you want it for the left wing it’s a different bracket. It will coexist with Van’s aileron trim fine. The servo install bracket actually replaces one of the stock aileron bellcrank brackets (W-823-PP). The aileron trim from Van’s installs on the inboard inspection plate and connects via a couple of springs to the torque tube that runs along the spar.

Advice given so far has been dead on - it’s not whether you can install the servo with the wing skins on (you can but it’s a little more difficult), but whether you want to do it while laying on your back under the wing while it’s mounted on the plane. The pitch servo is easily accessible since it’s just aft of the battery.

Whatever you do, at least install the wiring to the servo locations ahead of time since it’s a large bundle (and relatively inexpensive). I’d recommend getting the multicolor bundled stuff from SteinAir – makes things REALLY easy later.

Finally, the servos for MOST of the TT autopilots will be the same. The low cost autopilots (DigiTrak, Altrak and Pictorial Pilot) use a different type. The Digiflight II series and up (including the Sorceror) use the same servos. TruTrak will also let you trade up from one model to another for the price difference.

You might also want to check with Alex DeDominicis. I purchased my Sorcerer
from Alex and service was great.

I know that Rich at Aircraft Extras (sales(at)aircraftextras.com ) has pretty good pricing on TruTrak as well.

I've got a two axis TruTrak installed in my 10 one thing that really bugs me is how much friction is
added to the control system when the AP is not in use. RV's normally have such nice smooth and
balanced controls especially if I compare it to my Glastar where the ailerons are very stiff and not
coordinated to the pitch force. Adding the TT servos added a lot of friction to the -10 control
system. My other plane has a single axis an old Navaid AP but it's servo had a clutch that
disconnected the motor from the control system when it was not in use so if the AP was off there is
no added friction from spinning a powered down motor like the TT servo. I would think the -46789
guys would find this an even bigger deal. There is no way I would mess up a -4's lovely control
feel by hanging a pair of TT servos on them if they all work like mine.

Am I the only one who has this complaint? Are my servos bad or did I wire them wrong?

Assuming my TT stuff is operating as it's designed I'd say there is some room for improvement in the
TT product before I'd give it an unqualified recommendation.

Although I haven't flown yet, the drag you mention is not as noticable when everything is connected and you use the stick to move the controls. The aileron trim springs add more to the mix as well but I don't find any of this added tension very noticable ie like hard to move the stick. But this ain't no RV-4 either.

This one to me seems to come from far left field. After flying for
so many hours, it just seems like you need to get it in the air
to feel it. My sticks flop about easily when on the ground. In the
air the control feel is super light. Actually, the pitch forces
are a bit low at times. In roll, I'm very happy that the ailerons
get some stiffness to them. It's still a plenty light plane that
flies with fingertips only, but if the roll forces were any less,
I'd be more worried about how the plane would be to fly IFR. Even
with the airplane off though, the controls are so easy to manipulate
that any friction from the servos is barely noticeable. I think
you'll have to get it flying and spend some time with it, because
you'll have a lot less to complain about once you feel it in the
air. It isn't a 4,6,7,8 but even if I was wanting to do aerobatics
all I'd want out of the plane was maybe a bit lighter aileron,
and that would be more a factor of aileron size than any minor
amount of servo friction.

Tim, I'd have to say my experience with the pitch servo (I'm not flying yet)
is the stick stays whever I put it. In other words, it definetly doesn't
flop around like it did before the servo was connected. Maybe not left
field?
I'll post the model of the servo later when I can view it.

Perry,
It sounds like my experience is similar to the other responses. I can't
even tell it's there when I don't have the autopilot engaged and I have time
in a lot of high performance machines as well as the RV-6. I'm not sure if
that's what you wanted to hear.
