Ray,
Be cautious as to what type of rubber or rubber cork/rubber gasket material
is used when exposing it to auto gas. Some of the rubber and plastic
materials will be adversely affected by it. I don't think I would use an
inner tube if I were ever going to use auto gas. Try putting a piece of
whatever material you choose in a closed container of auto gas for a few
days and see how it is affected before using it in an aircraft fuel system.
Little pieces of cork or paper are very difficult to get out of a wing tank,
and can plug up a lot of things in a fuel system. The only material I use
for quick drain "O" rings is Viton. The stuff is virtually unaffected by
auto gas. It is also available in sheets of various thickness.
