I will check with the friend from Poland, how many hours they have on this engine's, he just installed his, but have installed many on others plane inkl the school plane, he is also the one that got the bmw electronic box to work on airplane, there is 3 different manufactures of gear box, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Germany, he recommend the Cz gear box
The BMW 1100S is a modern engine that don't cost a lot, modern electronic injection, cheep on fuel, cheep to buy, 85-90 useful HP (depending on RPM) the torque is almost constant, I have pic from a guy in Poland that replaced his VW 1835 with a BMW he more then doubled the climb rate. speed up to VNE on his dragy TULAK (highwing side by side plane, MTOW 450 kg / 1000 lbs)
