Greetings all,
Just wanted to echo my sentiments regarding the Rough River gathering.
Susan and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends and reacquainting ourselves with others we'd previously met at Sun-n-Fun and at our fly in at TN89 in 2004. Rough River State Park is an ideal place for such a gathering. I don't know of a better facility anywhere east of the Mississippi.
Susan got some great shots of our, uh, er, "formation" fly by. She's trying to get them sorted out before she departs for Colorado with her mother on Wednesday and I've asked her to burn them to a CD so that I can distribute them to anyone who'd care to have copies. Several of the pictures of our fly-by can be enlarged enough to see the faces of the pilots. That new Sony SLR she has is nothing sort of amazing!
It was tough to leave at the end of the day and I wish we'd have stayed, but life sometimes gets in the way or even the best made plans. We arrived back at TN89 right at dark. Ten minutes later and I'd have had to go somewhere else and wait for morning since I neglected to leave my runway lights set up so I could turn them on when I arrived.
Kudos' to Paul, Jeff and anyone and everyone else who made this event happen. Mighty fine job, guys!
Can't wait to do it again!
Just to plant a seed, fall is coming and IMHO that is a fine time to visit the panhandle of Florida for some shrimp. How about a "Drop of the Hat" fly out rendezvous, American style? Gulf Shores? Pensacola? I can taste those Gulf shrimp now.........
Regards,
John Lawton

Just to echo everyone else, the Rough River Fly-in was great! It included flying Europas (three monos, three tri-gears & a conventional gear/ 914s, 912Ss & a Jabiru), and builders in all stages from "just got the kit" to "in paint". Can't wait 'til next year & hoping for some North American DOTHs in the meantime. If you didn't make it, put Labor Day weekend 2008 on your calendar NOW!

Posting again what I thought was forwarded already.....so now here's some pictures too.
Hi All,
We just returned from the drive up to Rough River, the First Annual US Europa Fly-in. What a perfect weekend! There were 7 Europas in attendance and 28 nice Europa folks in all. The choice of this location was great and the weather perfect. I have never seen a state park with such nice amenities. It had a nice 3200ft runway. Just a short walk away was a lakeside lodge complete with a very good and reasonably priced restaurant. They had a pool, golf course, campground, marina, cottages, and a picnic and beach area. Donna and I got a ride with Jeff B.and Jeff R. in their beautiful trigears. I especially enjoyed the "formation" flight, flying right seat in "Gold Rush". I will be posting a bunch of pix tomorrow on the gallery page in the forum watch for it. Can't wait till next year.

I side fully with mentioned comments about Rough River. Great time with
great folk and great flying machines, well at least 8.
Arguably the best flying machine to grace us, pic attached.

Hey Europa Friends,
Wonder on over to the Europa Owners Forum Gallery to view a slide show of the Rough River Fly-in. If anyone wants an unabridged disk of the pictures or a DVD of the dodgy video I shot, email me at wingnut54(at)charter.net, and I'll send you one of each or either. Include your mailing address of course. I haven't yet tried to see if the short mpegs I uploaded will play or not. Hope they do for you.
Kindest Regards,
Troy and Donna Maynor
