When I built my wings I used yellow Tygon for fuel sight tubing. Finally got to put some gas in the tanks. After about three weeks the tubing discolored dark brown. Is there a better material to use that will not discolor?

I suppose it depends on what fuel you're using, but I've had good results with the blue Bing alcohol resistant fuel line sold by Aircraft Spruce. I'm using 100LL exclusively. Of course, being blue it's a little harder to see through from the start, but it hasn't changed color in a year of service.

I understand the blue Tygon works well with autogas also but I used white Nylon tubing which is also hard to see through. My gage has horizontal lines at each gallon mark and because the tube is at an angle these lines are clearly visible perpendicular to the tube if there is fuel in the tube and stay parallel to the airplane if there is no fuel there. It really is easy to read to the next lower gallon mark. The material seems to resist attack from the gas.
One of the orginal tubes, a brittle material, problably polycarbonate, turned dark and cracked after about 4 years. I was taking off from Oshkosh when gasoline started pouring out of the right wing all down the side of the airplane. I called the tower and they cleared me right in, went to the EAA maintenance area, replaced the tube with some Tygon and got back in the air within an hour or so.
My wife was not happy!
