hi, first posting, i've got a 3 blade ivoprop on a c gearbox, 618 on mk3 kitfox, the engines has to be removed, i've taken out the big screw in the spinner, but it won't move at all, is it just brute force now to remove it or have i missed something? hot air gun perhaps? any input welcomed, thanks.

I think you are asking how to get the spinner off.. It is possible that the spinner is corroded to the prop hub. nothing else should be holding the spinner on other that the screw in the end of it.

Hi John, it may have locktite on the threads of the bolt. I put locktite on the threads on mine to make sure it stays there.

If the prop was put on according to the manufacturer then it has silicone around the back flange area . Yes it is a **** getting it off . hit is sideways and should pop off or use thin flat pry bar to pop the silicone loose .

According to the above quote, as was originally posted, he states that he removed the screw in the spinner, does not say I removed the 6 bolts that hold the prop to the flange and it still wont come off...
I made a call to ESK to clarify.. he ment to say the spinner is siliconed on if installed correctly...

I think what's a bit confusing is whether or not he has removed the spinner.
For the sake of clarity, the spinner should come off easily after the centre
bolt is removed.... Inside the spinner he will find the six bolts that
actually hold the prop to the flange plate. They may be, but are not
supposed to be, lockwired. The amount of heat that it would require to
otherwise remove the prop without removing the mounting bolts would also
remove the plane
Sorry guys this must be the start of the silly season... Any one want to
discuss Scotchbrite colours???
