I m installing the control cables in my 601 XL and have a problem with the trun buckles.
Do the barrells have a right and left hand thread ?
I think they do and all of the "forks and eyes" have right hand threads.
Am I wrong or did Zenith send me the wrong parts ??

They're right and left threads, but I couldn't tell you offhand which is which.

The turnbuckle barrels have a left hand thread on one end and a right hand thread on the other. There should be forks or eyes with either left hand thread or right hand thread to match the barrels. If Zenith sent the wrong parts, give them a call and they should send out the right parts right a away. I've gotten real good service from them while I was building my plane.

They are designed so that you can turn the barrel one way to tighten, one way to loosen. They need both right and left.

The barrel end with the a notch going around it indicates the side with left hand threads.
Good luck,

Steve,
It sounds like the wrong parts, but take the time to call Zenith and ask
them and you'll
resolve this thing faster.

HI STEVE
THE TURN BUCKLES DO NEED TO HAVE RIGHT AND LEFT HAND THREADS SO THAT BOTH WILL TIGHTEN UP AND LOOSEN AT THE SAME TIME.

Steve,
The end of the turnbarrel with the left hand thread will have a small groove around it. Obvoiusly, you will need left hand threaded forks or eyes to screw into the left hand thread end of the barrel.

Steve,
Just curious, but all my turnbuckles came from ZAC put together, where each barrel had the required threaded forks or eyes already threaded in. This meant all the right threads were in the right holes. Did yours come as separate pieces? Just wondering.
