|
|
I'm about to do one of two things - rivet the lower wing skins, or run the
corregated plastic wiring conduit though the wing ribs. Any advice as to
the preferred order? Running the conduit after the lower skin is on looks
like a mjor pain, but working around the conduit during riveting looks to
be troublesome as well. The tubing will be running through holes I
drilled towards the bottom of the ribs in the web below and centered
between two lightening holes. Thanks in advance for any help!

I ran the tube first, than riveted skins. I'm sure it is much easier to
work around the tube when riveting than to try and pull the tube later.

It's got to be tube first: isn't it recommended somewhere that at each rib
you have to 'proseal' or otherwise attach it to each rib (maybe a
silicone/RTV adhesive) to combat chafing

Place the tube first. Then rivet. it's no big deal to get around the
tube. Also, you might want to place a dab of proseal around the tubing at
each rib.

The conduit was difficult to pull through the holes, so I didn't bother to glue it to the ribs as I see no way it could ever pull out.
Also, were I to do it again, I would route the conduit along the upper part the rib, not the lower. It was a small pain to get the bucking bar between the bottom skin and conduit.

Jason,
Yes they are had to pull through but you glue them in place to keep them
from chaffing and being cut by the rib because once that happens, the
wires are soon to be cut.
