Walt- Ryan at Green Landings would be better at
answering your questions than me. His website with
contact info is greenlandings.com. The plane has less
than 1 hour on it, so we haven't tested it with 2
people and luggage, etc. We won't know until the firat
40 hours are flown off b/c you can't take any
passengers during the testing phase. My understanding
is that it will reduce my luggage capacity by 35 lbs
or so, but I could care less about that. Everything I
take with me will have to be simple and foldable
(folding bike) I would rather have the added safety
measure of an airframe parachute. Brent, a rep at BRS
Parachutes Inc. and at all the air shows for brs,
personally inspected the molds as they were
manufactured and he said that no doubt, the Lightning
was made incredibly well, just as good as a Cirrus in
terms of the whole airframe straps, etc. I hope you
don't make one with a parachute, so mine will be one
of the only ones with a chute and therefore more
valuable- hardy har har=) My guess about the 2 chutes
thing you are talking about is that sounds like it is
something too complicated and wouldn't make much
sense- but hey go for it! There is nothing wrong with
the one chute system but if you got a better way-
can't wait to see it! As for the chute on your back-
you better be at high altitude b4 you jump- brs chutes
have worked as low as 100' off the ground. You have no
control over when or where (altitude) an accident may
happen. Having the chute pretty much guarantees you
any hot chick will go up with you b/c they feel more
safe. Taking hot chicks up in the air can lead to
other good things.

PS- even though you are in the west, i recommend ryan
at GL to help you build your Lightning- he's done a
lot of lightnings and is getting really good at them,
and has former nasa and northrop grumman scientists on
his staff. I believe he is on lightning # 6- though
you wouldn't know it since he doesn't brag about it. i
have not been paid to make these remarks
and do not work for gl- i am just a customer. i was
not asked to make these remarks. Charles

Charles,

I think I saw your Lightning. I was up at Green Landings a few months ago for a demo flight and there was a Lightning up there that had BRS resently installed. I remember asking Ryan about the weight. Post some pictures, if you get the chance.

Rick- Jim langley posted 2 pics on greenlandings.com.
They don't show the installation of the brs or
anything close-up. The install of the brs is basically
the same as on Nick's prototype. Charles
