For the life of me I cant figure out how to::::
Find where to drill the aluminum trim on the front of the canopy. I ve drilled the plastic canopy itself and went on thru to the aluminum tube frame. Thats easy. Now I want to install the aluminum sheet that covers the front of the tube/plastic.
Hope I m making scense.....

Steve- make a pattern using poster board and cut til you are happy with the shape. Leave a 1`/4 inch gap on the bttom for the rubber seal and the use the resulting pattern to cut the aluminum. Good luck. Al Young XL flying.

Steve,
Make yourself a tool like a rivet hole finder. Take a couple of strips (~1" x 6"); drill & cleco one end with two A4 clecoes. Drill a #40 hole in the "free" end. Take the strips apart. On the strip that will be the bottom, drill out & place a rivet in the #40 hole, tail down, to form a "nub." The size of this rivet is determined by the size of the hole you want to find; for instance, use an A3 rivet for a #30 hole, an A4 rivet for a #20 hole, etc. You may have to experiment a little to find the proper nub. Rivet the two strips together at the other end. Slip the device over the aluminum and find the hole with the nub. You will have a #40 pilot hole in the top strip to drill a pilot hole through, exactly where the hidden hole is.
If this is not clear, see attached. Hope this helps.

Steve,
If you're careful, you can leave the front flashing apron off the canopy
and just add the rubber trim edging.
I think it looks better that way.

All of the aircraft tool supply companies that I know of sell this same tool
in various sizes. Anyone building an aircraft or performing maintenance
should have set.

You should be able to get it done using a strap type hole duplicator. the tough part is getting that piece of aluminum t conform to the compound curve of that area of the bubble.
