For those who are interested, my dad and I just got in yesterday from Ecuador in N256H. We traveled a total of 2,225nm in 14.75hrs and burned a total of about 133gals (16.7+ nm/gal at 150knotts-gs and 9gph average over 3 legs). The longest leg was from MRPV (San Jose, Costa Rica) to Key West via airways through La Mesa and Cozumel, 1,084nm in 7hrs and 61gals (17.7+ nm/gal at 155knotts-gs and 8.7gph average) - glad to have the aux tank! The whole flight started at 12pm CST on Wednesday and was completed at 6pm EST on Thursday with no night flying (night flying is fun, but not over the Pacific ocean or the Gulf of Mexico, IMHO). After things finally cleared up enough in Quito for us to get off VFR, the weather was fantastic the whole trip, with cruising altitudes of 17,500, 16,500 and 13,500 the whole way. TFR's via the internet are a great tool for international traveling.
The combination of the Garmin 430, Flight Cheetah FL210 with terrain, Garmin 296 with terrain, Dynon D-180, Vertical Power VP-200, Icom A-200, TruTrak ADI-G, GTX-327 and handheld radio backup made for great situational awareness and redundancy throughout the whole VFR trip.

The Hobbs on N256H was just about to turn 450 as we rolled up to the hangar yesterday afternoon.

Sorry we didn't get numbers on the wing fillets yet, but we ran short on time down there and decided to ship them up and test them up here. We will let ya'll know when we get them and try them out. They look great, so we will see if they make any difference in speeds.

For those interested in the Vertical Power, it really is a nice way to handle the power and the automatic mode switching works great and lowers the pilot's workload during the times where he/she needs to concentrate on flying the plane. The voice alerts are nice for engine alerts and the information on voltage and current draw are great to know. Without lights, our 12V plane draws 9Amps during normal operation when not transmitting (1.2A is drawn by the VP-200 system itself), but with everything on the panel turned on. Standard Navs draw 6A, Strobes draw 6A and each landing light draws 7A. The Falcon heated pitot draws 8A. 4 of Stein's swivel LED's draw less than .1A together.

Keep building - it's worth it.

GOD BLESS and Merry CHRISTmas!
