HI KIDS...
Sue and I want to wish all of you and yours a Merry Christmas!! Remember just how lucky we all are to have been born in a Christian nation. There is no GA aviation in Buddhist countries, or Muslim countries. We are so blessed to live in a country founded by a group of renegade Christians men over 200 years ago. It was their understanding of the freedoms Christianity promise that gave them the inspiration to write our constitution and bill of rites. When the first Congress met, they prayed to God through Jesus Christ,,,,, for two full days!! They truly "Got it". This Christmas take a moment to pray and thank God for his son, Jesus and for the men who founded our great nation on Christian beliefs and principals and Thank God for all of the brave men and Women who stand on the line in our military every day to keep it that way, I did.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

A merry Christmas to all of you from Nico, Johanna, and Nicolene. One man, all girls. You must reason that there's some sympathy (and a lot of envy) for me.
God bless you all.

Merry Christmas Everyone,
While I appreciate the sentiment, I just wonder where this idea came from:
> There is no GA aviation in Buddhist countries, or Muslim countries.
As someone who has lived in South-East for quite a while now, I can assure everyone that both ‘Buddhist’ & ‘Muslim’ countries (a term more properly applied to people, not states) certainly do have general aviation!
Regards,
- Steve Nunez

Thank you and well said….. God has blessed this great nation in my ways .The Christian belief that we are individuals endowed by the Creator is at the core of our Christian culture. This truth was the basis of our great constitution, government and country. Individuals living with very little government interfering with their freedom and liberty. We need to return to less government …Merry Christmas to all

Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Brunei
just to name a few. AFAIK, none of the religious scriptures (Buddhist or Muslim) prohibit flight in aircraft.

Folks,
While the GA sector might be tiny in China, it is set to expand greatly, with leadership from the present Minister ( Secretary of State) for Aviation, who has had his own Mooney M20 for many years. Minister Yang Yuan Yuan is also a former Check and Training Captain of China Southern, I first made his acquaintance many years ago, when we were both as above on B767. Yang has been smart enough to adopt all the good bits of the FARs as the new basis of civil aviation regulation in China, while excising all the accumulated debris of political incursion over the years --- close to a model civil code, following a policy based of "don't reinvent the wheel".
Yang's boss at China Southern, many years ago, Yu Yan En, ( who had 36,000h + in his log book when he retired) was the founder President of AOPA China.
I wonder if anybody ever recently considered having a highly experienced, qualified, progress minded, smart and politically savvy civil airman as head of FAA --- and at the risk of upsetting anybody, I do mean airman, not airperson.
GA is alive and well in Malaysia and Singapore, both have active AOPAs, the Royal Thai Aero Club in Bangkok used to be a great place for a cold beer, but I have not been there for a few years.
What is not a large segment in these places, is private GA, but all the other sectors of GA, from aerial ag. through corporate to oil production support, is expanding.
Having said that, nobody has a GA (or aviation of any kind) sector anything like the US, nor are they ever likely to, for a number of historic and economic reasons, with very oppressive bureaucracies (fading in China) being at the top of the list.
Al the best for the New Year,
Bill Hamilton

Bill-
“I wonder if anybody ever recently considered having a highly experienced, qualified, progress minded, smart and politically savvy civil airman as head of FAA --- and at the risk of upsetting anybody, I do mean airman, not airperson.”
Having made her acquaintance on a few occasions that allowed for conversation: I was glad to see Marian Blakely finally leave. She was a puppet to the Air Transport Association agenda until about a month before she left office. She was a worthless appointee selected to fulfill someone’s quota objectives.
Bobby Sturgel, the recently selected head of FAA on the other hand, is well known to me. His office was a few feet from mine back during my management days at UAL- and I dare say he was a respected and thoughtful 757/767 captain and pilot manager. Bobby is brighter than most of the bulbs on the tree- and his penchant for not being a “yes” man if his personal opinion varied with the establishment is (in my opinion) one of the reasons I don’t think he was considered for greater and higher promotion at UAL. (The blunt version: UAL didn’t want managers who would not toe the party line even when it was idiotic to do so…Hence I’m no longer there either. )Â
I haven’t been in contact with Bobby for many years- but I was astounded and absolutely thrilled to see his name pop up to take the helm of FAA after whatserface retired. Bobby is a good man at heart, a decent and experienced pilot, an exceptionally intelligent individual with a broad background- and given his success in spite of his penchant for rational thinking- I dare say he will bring all of us in aviation good things under his stewardship.

Robert,
That sounds like progress to may, let's hope he gets FAA back on the rails.
