Thanks
I have tried Falcon insurance. They said no to the Lightning. Gave me a quote for the Jabriu 250 and it was over twice what I pay for my C182. I will try again with SLSA and see if that makes a difference.
Colin
I am not up to speed on LSA and E-LSA or experimental LSA. What is SLSA?
Thanks, Wayne

SLSA = special light sport aircraft - a ready to fly aircraft delivered by the manufacturer that flies within the defined light sport envelope (speed, stall, weight etc.)
ELSA = a kit version of the above - but can only be sold if the above exists
experimental = a kit, which may (in the Lightning's case can) be constructed to fly within the defined light sport envelope and therefor be flown by a sport pilot

[quote] Wayne,
Falcon insures my Lightning registered as Experimental Amateur Built; they required one hour dual before insuring but gave me both liability and hull insurance in March 2007.

Wayne,

You need to contact the right agent in Falcon agency. Some of the agents are not willing to go through the work to present your case to an underwriter and automatically say no. I highly recommend Bob Mackey, a VP of Falcon located in Oshkosh WI. He is the agent more familiar with Experimentals than any other Falcon agent and knows how to show an underwriter from AIG or Global that a Lightning would be a good plane to insure. Bob has arranged the insurance for about 10 Lightnings so far, including the prototype. Contact him at 920-230-3252.
