When I drilled out the holes that connect 7F3-3SP with the diagonal tube the distance between the holes was unacceptable to me. This was after even reducing the edge distance for the holes on the gusset and the tube.

I ended up fabricating a new diagonal tube gusset, but it seems fairly impossible to fit those four rivets in the tube if you have everything lined up correctly. The only solution I can see is enlarging the gusset inboard so you gain more space on the diagonal.

Anyone else have this problem? I could not find anything in the archives about it.

Thanks!

I had the the same problem. I ended up fabricating a new, somewhat larger gusset as you described. That whole general area of the build was a real pain-in-the-backside as I recall. Added a whole new layer on the aluminum scrap heap before I finally got through it.

I had the same issue with my kit. I know they try to reduce the aircraft weight to an absolute minimum, but IMHO it would be nice if pieces such as this gusset had a few more millimeters to ensure proper edge distance.
