I'm using the Ellison, so was concerned about the same issue. I installed an additional paper element filter after both pumps but before the pressure guage port. This should allow me to detect any filter clogging resulting in a pressure drop. Picture included if it gets through.

I'm sorry, but at the risk of flames, why would anyone knowingly design
such a fault-intolerant, complex fuel system?

On the advice of William Wynne and others, I removed my fuel filter. As others have pointed out, the gascolator acts as a fuel filter and a water separator. I've been flying the ellison EFS-3A for about 150 hours now.

OK, where do you think the fault intolerance is in the system?

Maybe I am wrong, but from what I understand, the fuel pumps should be in a "parallel" configuration, as the failure of one pump could severely restrict or completely block flow of fuel through the line.

Steve,
Not true. William Wynne recommends two fuel pumps in series. He has been flying his 601XL for several years in this configuration with no problems. For some types of fuel pumps, this may be true, but not the ones Wynne recommends (Facet Part No. FP-40108).

I stand corrected. I had never seen this type of arrangement before.

The pumps used in the WW design flow freely when off. In fact, only one of those pumps is running at any given time.
