The rubber bushings in our lower cowling attach brackets are shot.  These are pressed-in hard rubber with a small brass tube center that the attach pin with a T-tip secures it to the U-shaped bracket on the firewall. Doug has the screw-in type, but they are slightly larger and meant for later models that have a threaded housing. Anyone had luck finding or making a workable substitute?

Thanks, Dave

Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.

I had the same problem. Still do, but I used a rubber hose cut very short. Sorry I can't remember the size. Its ID fit the brass tube center and OD went into the bracket. Not perfect and it will not last forever, but it got the job done.

Dave

I make these out of a 1/2" thick rubber block, and size them to donut shape so they will hold inside the fitting. Rather than a brass sleeve, I use a piece of steel bushing stock, pressed in. To install into the mount, lube the donut and press in sideways at first and then use a clamp to squeeze between two plates on either side of the mount.

If I get a chance I'll make a batch and put 'em up on my website but I think I'm out of bushing stock.
