Craig, Pappy et al--
I feel for you po' boys down south, I really sho nuff do, havin' to sweat it out and swat bugs all year 'round--don't like shovelin' no stinkin' leaves blown by no wind, neither, 'specially not in January. Lawzy! Winter is for restin', not no stinkin' yard work! Mercy me! Don't need no stinkin' bonefish (they're, er, bony), neither, Doug--and nobody likes a smarty ass! And don't you have somethin' better to do down there wherever you are down there in some miserable backwards furrin' land, Believes or wherever you are, stead a readin' the Yak-list on vacation, for Criminy sakes? Land a Goshen! That's plenty ways too far to go just to sit at some stinkin' computer all day! Y'all be careful of the skin cancer down there, too, hear? And haven't I heard somethin' 'bout some kinda nasty wind y'all get down there, ah, hurricranes or somethin' so bad y'all give it a name like, ah, Katherina, Matilda or Fred or somethin' crazy like that? Careful!
Yes, we already got plenty a folks here 'bouts but I guess we can make room for y'all, keep a light on anyway. Just don't let the kids go out by themselves, for gosh sake, 'specially not at night--might get attacked by some big bug, or a snake or a lizard or a gator or somethin' truly horrible, dontcha know! Whatch y'all doin' in such a crazy place, anyways? Lawzy mercy!
Despite the (ah, deserved) dreary reputation, it's been 45F and sunny here in Seattle the last several days--perfect (just don't ask how it was from November 'til now). Ah, yes. You should probably get right on home now, Doug, 'fore it goes away! Give me dead calm, stars and 20's at night, frost in the morning, snow on the mountains, sun in the blue, islands in the (Puget Sound) stream. What more could you want--and nary a bug or snake (nor gator, neither)!
We spent the holidays in Ottawa with kids and grandkids, where its usually freeze-ass. Got a truly terrific aviation museum there. The newspapers were reminiscing about the Big One ten years ago when the Montreal area was without power for months in some places. Not this year. We got a little snow, then it warmed up to 53F and melted most of it. Didn't see any snow in Chicago, either. Warmer there than here. Guess that's changed since we left, but Gore may be on to something, me thinks, eh? Both our daughter and her hubby are medical research bureaucrats working for Health Canada so when we become decrepit I guess we'll probly wind up there inna gummint paid nursing home, dontcha know, freezin' our patooties off. Lord have mercy! O' Canada!
You guys make me sick!
