In reply to Jan, it is theoretically possible to convert Series I to M14PF. However by the time that you have nine new cylinders; Series II gearbox etc the cost would make it prohibitive.
Certainly the view of Vedeneyev is that the Series I should not be converted to 400hp.
Having said that it is a conversion that I have seen done on Series I engines, and I am not personally aware of any specific problems that have occurred!
