Hi Forrest,
Good to hear the old Super Pickle is in good hands. That plane is what got me into this business, for better or for worse...lol. Some of my fondest flying memories are at her controls. Though my recent flight with 4 F/A-18s in the L-39 is right up there!  What a kick that was....
I suspect we are two months away from being able to produce the tanks in kit form. They are new construction tanks using the original filler and vent, but will have a new quick drain on the bottom. The modifications are simple and easy to perform on the aircraft. The outboard rib is cut out and then reinforced around the perimeter. This allows the tank to extend one station. The brackets for the straps on the hat section supports are moved to the aft corner of the bay to allow the entire tank to be extended aft and everything is properly reinforced to accommodate the extra weight. The tank is built so that it can slide right in to the cavity.
Final specifications should be ready in a month or so. At that time we will be accepting deposits as we've already had more than a couple inquiries. For now it will be done on an exchange basis (we need your filler neck, senders, gauge, vent fitting, etc.). Total down time should be no more than two weeks, including shipping. If we do it at our shop, the time will be less than a week.
To summarize, our current list of CJ mods are as follows:
1) Malcom Hood front and one piece rear canopies
2) Metal placard set in english that exactly replicates original Chinese placards in size and look
3) Rudder Pedal mod that increases leg extension by 4".
4) Custom laser cut instrument panels and EFIS installations
5) Large baggage compartment kit with floor compartments and standard APU receptacle.
6) Complete aircraft re-wiring (weight saving and increased reliability)
7) New fuel tanks coming soon....
