For all who don't know this, the Yak 52 is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. First flight was May 1978.

EAA in its announcement on its web page got the date wrong. Its 50th year not 60.

So far we have 44 CJ-6s signed up. Some 11 Yaks (who will fly with us) have signed on too. I expect more.

This morning I will be mailing a letter to Bushi Cheng, in the PRC with an invitation (courtesy of the RPA) to come and celibate with us. Hopefully those of you who did not get to meet him in 2001 will be able to do so.

You guys and gals better get signed up. Go to the RPA web site for details. Also see the next issue of RedAlert.

EAA AirVenture is a major gathering for several warbirds groups celebrating anniversaries this year, including the 70th anniversary of the T-6 trainer and the 60th anniversary of the Nanchang CJ-6A. Dozens of each of those models are expected to be part of the AirVenture flight line, and it could shift warbird parking patterns slightly in that area.

Pappy, will we need more CJ's now?

Give me 31 Yaks with FAST cards and we'll put up the number of 30 in formation over OSH.

No, but EAA will need more outhouses if they intend to park all the CJs behind the out houses, as usual.
