Drag is a relative thing. One or two antennas on a big 4 seater that
won't go 200kts down low is one thing. As the airframe gets smaller
(lower airframe flat-plate area) and the speed goes up, antenna drag
becomes less trivial.. Plus, antennas are ugly. But, I agree that for
most airplanes external antennas make sense unless you're looking to be
experimental.
