All,
I received some criticism for my reply to Michel's post
about flying at Vne. In particular with regard to saying:
"YOU ARE A TEST PILOT. (Michel, I admire your courage.)"
I want everyone to know I was NOT chastising Michel in ANY
WAY. It was a poorly worded joke. I apologize for any hard feelings
or confusion.

Guy, I read your 1st "Test pilot" message. If anyone has a problem with that statement. It's their problem, not yours. There is nothing wrong with your choice of words. Please continue with your uncensored commentary.

.. hum, Guy, I understood your comments as a joke, of course. Because I am NEVER flying at or near Vne if it isn't only a fraction of a second, when I test my max RPM at WOT; usually when levelling after initial climb.
If anyone got the impression that I do, it is then my turn to apologize.
In fact, I do exactly the opposite; I always fly at a very safe speed, away from Vne and Vso. A year ago I flew to Germany and back in formation with a Skyranger with a Rotax 912. At two occasions, I had to ask my wing mate to slow down.
Since he lives and fly from the same place where the Scandinavian Jabiru dealer lives, later on I got a phone call from him asking if really my Kitfox with Jabiru was flying so much slower than the Skyranger (pretty similar type of aircraft as the Kitfox) with a Rotax 912.
To what I had to answer: "Of course, not! I could have kept the same speed as he did but I wanted to fly slower because it was typical summer sunshine thermic turbulence. especially along the Swedish coast with an onshore breeze; you know, when mild and wet air comes from the sea and rises over land to form nice cumulus.
The thing is; I don't like to fly seeing the ASI needle moving up and down near Vne. Once I had to pull the throttle to idle in order to stay under Vne and at the same altitude. It was funny; flying forward with the nose down. But, flying in controlled airspace, with a light aircraft in thermic cells, it's the only way to do it.
Cheers,
Michel Verheughe

One of the reasons that we have members who are over-sensitive to criticism is the fact that we have too much criticism going on. Nobody joined the list in order to have their views attacked. Can't we focus on positive and constructive criticism, rather than the little-girl "catty" attacks? We are all full grown men and don't value attacks on each others values. No one in the group is so stupid/lame/weak that he will change his values because Joe Blow thinks he's wrong. It's true that we have some "experts" in the group, but they must 'use their powers for good...not evil.' Let's focus on Kitfoxes, not on trying to rebuild each others values. It's too late for that. Those of us that are EVIL are already lost.

Guy you are one of the few that lets a little humor in.. Keep it that way. If someone gets uptight over a little comment like that, they need to find another place to hang out.
Keep the place alive by showing we are humans not robots.
As always, I have nothing constructive to add to the site so please.

John, I don't recall reading any of your posts before. Welcome.
Could you please quote some of those "little-girl catty attacks"? Or some
of the "EVIL" remarks you refer to? I must have missed them.
Thanks,
Deke

Sorry Deke,
I'm going ask everyone to drop this line of attack as it's
not even remotely Kitfox related. Anyone wishing to pursue it further
please do so off-line.

Deke,
I try my best to either skip the nonsense or forget it ASAP. The last one that comes to mind is the one where a pilot griped about being attacked at his local airport for making landings at each runway (touch and go) and the local AH complained that he was an unsafe pilot. Then everyone on the list jumped in and debated whether or not he was an unsafe pilot because he was landing at all the runways. That example is typical of what I'm talking about. I really don't believe that there's any pilot on the list who cares about that type of nonsense. No one is going to change their flying attitude because of all the little girl chatter about their perception of what constitutes good practice (insofar as it is merely nonconstructive criticism). Debate is good if it doesn't fall into the category of nit-picking.
My comment here did not relate to Guy's apology other than to say to everyone out there "THICKEN YOUR SKIN!" NO APOLOGY NECESSARY!Part of the problem here is that we run out of technical questions so we devolve into personal junk. Then some get offensive about that. Giant waste of time. Think KITFOX, not $%ITFOX.

Guy, I have a doctorate, but I guess, not enough education to be able decipher which chatter is acceptable and which is not. Seems like lately it's 90% chatter and 10% Kitfox. Since I can't figure out the "good" chatter from the "bad," please drop me from the list. Thanks much. Keep 'em flyin'.
Best of luck to all you builders. Hope to meet you all someday. John
