Hi, John -
Yessir - I'm planning to attend MV-2008! Lookin' forward to seeing all
my Kolb friends again!
At Monument Valley last year, Larry Cottrell was gracious enough to let
me borrow his DRE-6000 for one flight in my Mark-3, so I could compare
them to my current set of LightSPEED-QXC ANR headsets.
I was happy to discover that they were comparable. The quality of sound
was a bit "different" (difficult to quantify in words), but not really
any better or worse.
Main thing is, I am happy with my LightSPEEDs, the cockpit environment
is quiet and enjoyable for long flights, and I can hear my radio easily
now.

Dennis:
Marv Golden has them for 285.00.
I may try and talk you into letting me fly with yours at MV for comparison
to the DRE6000.
One nice feature of the DRE is the ability to operate the headset from the
aircraft 12VDC electrical system. However, cameras need batteries, and I
carry a battery charger with me for them, so another couple batteries for
the headset would not be that much of a bother.
Reason I am getting info on an alternative anr that works in a Kolb MKIII is
when the DRE bites the dust. I am going to need a replacement and one never
knows when the headset is going to go belly up.
