My airplane seems to be unique in the the fairings behind the pylons are sheet aluminum rivetted to the lower wing skin.
I wanted to remove the pylons and the hardware from inside wing to lose some weight (my wife thinks I should lose it myself).
Pete Taylor had a set of wings on a project with all the pylon hardware removed from inside the wing, apparently by taking the top inspection hatch cover off and pulling some pins, but it is not clear to me any more since I looked at mine. does anyone have any suggestions on weight removal?
Pete has some formed covers covering the internal wing latch mechanism, which are I believe no longer available, with the internals removed a flat plate would suffice, if I removed the fairings
Also I notice that the seats are very heavy and non ejecting. I owned a Yak and the seats in that were very light but still stressed for 8G, has anyone replaced seats and what with?
Many thanks
Neville the non flying newbie

Lose weight because??? I hope you don't think it will instantly do 10,000 feet per minute?
Sometimes the time spent chasing 1 or 2 pounds is not worth the gain. And then you can't use the external tanks. Just go out and fly it. Have fun. Most of us can't afford to go far enough that it would make a big improvement anyway. Just remove the pylons and tanks, will be worth between 10%-15% increase in efficiency. But I wouldn't take the guts out.

Just my Opinion.
