|
|
I want to order a nose wheel for my project. I found the same part number that Zenith has, for a lot less at ACS. Now, they have 2 different size bearings. Can anyone tell me the bearing size that comes with the kit, since I will probably order the axle from them.

The 601XL has a 5/8" front wheel axle.
I replaced the axle when I replaced the bearings.
I bought 5/8" stock + hacksawed a piece to fit and
used a die to tap the threads.
Regarding the bearings:
Search the archives using 'tapered'. some results:
front wheel bearing failure - CH601XL, stock Matco wheel
tapered roller bearings for my CH601XL front wheel
I got my replacement bearings at:
US Bearings & Drives
Seattle, WA 206-762-3800
2 - Timken 03062 Tapered Roller Bearing Cones, $16.52 each
2 - Timken 03162 Tapered Roller Bearing Cup, $8.52 each
from: http://www.baumhydraulics.com/files/catalog/sec-r.pdf
Cone Cone Cup or
Bore Bore Cone
Our "A" or Cup Length
Timken Sequence Per Cup O.D. O.D. Inches
Number Type Number Each "B" MM "D" or "E"
362 Cup 442752 19.27 3.543 90 .625
They had a parts book that enabled us to select a cup that
would fit the wheel and a cone that fit the 5/8" axle.
Verify that your inner and outer diameters match these parts.
Matco told me that they use tapered bearings with a 3/4 inch
axle, and the same wheel for some applications. So the wheel
was set up for tapered bearings. It needs a ridge on the
inner side of the bearing cup to hold it in place.

P.S. I used a hacksaw to cut my fairleads.
