|
|
Good day All,
Have taken a break from the filling and sanding. Beginning to look at
electrical wiring and am confused about one small item.....I got a starter solenoid
from ACS p/n 11-03162. It has the two big bolts on each side, from the battery
and two the starter, and two smaller bolts on the front. The right one is for
the solenoid coil with the return connected to the mounting base. But I can't
ohm out the connection from the smaller left bolt. The tag attached to this
bolt says "If original has 3 terminals DO NOT use THS "I" terminal". Spelling is
not wrong from my side, but what the tag reads.
Now I am not using this terminal but if bugs me to not know what it goes to
or it's purpose.

I think you might find this terminal becomes live when the solenoid is
engaged. If so, you could use it to control a starter engaged warning
light maybe.

Kingsley,
Thank you for the guidance. I have confirmed that the left smaller post on
the starter solenoid does get the input voltage (+12V in my case) when the
solenoid is energized.
