That brings up something I wanted to try and track. How many hours total there are currently on modern Corvair conversions. I would suspect WW has the most hours on them but I would like to make a list and total up the hours of all combined.

Congrats Mark on the 200 hrs. It sure is a lot of fun to take your kids up. Caution on taking up the neighbor kids. I had one throw up spagetti on a flight...Yugh! But such is the joy of flying. 41768 currently has 575 flight hours on it, and about 370 on a nitrided crankshaft. I have about 630 hours in various corvair aircraft from KRs to 601s. I am sure that Mark Langford is at the 600 hour mark on his plane. I know that Gus had lots of corvair hours since he did all the flying for WW. I know that WW is still woking on getting his pilots license so that he too can join the ranks. Dave Goodman has over 100 hours on his KR, Steve Makish over 300, Bob Lester had a couple hundred, Dan Weesman has about 100 I believe. Dont forget Joe Horton, Pete Bradigan and more. I venture to guess that there are more KR/Corvair hours than 601/corvair hours but since Peitenpols have been flying for years they may still be king of the hill. I hope for many thousand of safe flying hours to come.

Are you sure about this? If this is true then why would he have berated me for quote "Not flying behind what I sell" Which is un true I might add. I went flying in the first XL I helped build last weekend.

Can't everyone just let "sleeping dogs lay"??? Leave it alone folks. We have enough bantering going on as it is.....we don't need to turn this forum into another "flame throwing event".

I believe William didn’t keep up his license after the crash of his Pietenpol in 2001 and the lengthy recovery from the burns he received pulling the pilot from the wreckage.

But just because he hasn’t been piloting Corvair-powered planes doesn’t mean he hasn’t been flying in them regularly.
