Gang,
I have had several calls from CJ drivers who don't fully undertand just which part failed in Blitz's aircraft, so here is the chapter and verse: It is shown in IPB vol #1, the drawing is on page167, fig 4-21. The part which broke is item #1, p/n H2-4120-03. (-03R/H and -03L/H).

When checking this part on your aircraft make sure you check to see that the bearings are tight, and that the gear actuator conforms with the setting called out in the manual. While we do not know for sure what caused this failure, sloppy bearings and/or a incorrectly adjusted actuator ram just might cause such a failure,

Hope this helps clear things up.

First mechanical gear collapse I have seen on a CJ in 13 years not attriuted to "dummy damage". Could hydrogen embrittlement have played a role as this is an old-fashioned chromed part?
