Dear Listers,
I'm priming the cabin interior and overhead console in preparation from painting w/ PPG topcoat. The PPG Primer Wash says "not recommended for use on fiberglass". What to use?
Anyone know if 988 shake and rattle auto body primer would work okay? It seems to stick pretty well.
Thanks in advance for replies.
Regards,
Jay

I like the 2 part epoxy primers - way better than the rattle can stuff.
I am not so keen on the rattle can stuff as it probably has some oils in it which may prevent good adhesion later.
I am using Nason (Dupont) products, but a friend of mine is using Sherwin Williams. If I were starting today, I would go with the SW product as it seems more uniform. The Epoxies are a pain to mix and spray, but they are tough as nails when dry

You don't use the wash primer on the glass. My painting area of
my site tells about it....I think it's PPG K-36 primer that you
use, mixed as a primer/sealer....where you mix it with paint.
That's the stuff to use for the glass. Actually, you'll use
that on the aluminum after the wash, too....as wash primer isn't
a sealer.
