Hey everyone yesterday I was drilling the holes out between the doubler angle and the rudder spar. Long story short one of my clamps slipped by a fraction and caused some of my holes 2 of my holes to be 2 mm off or enlongated by the same amount. Will the rivet still seat right in these holes or is it time to scrap those pieces?

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew, a new doubler will only cost you $15. If you are drilling pilot holes you may be able to take out the misalignment when you open them up to full size, or even dill out for the next size up if that doesn't clear it out.

Hi Andrew,

All is not lost. You can drill out the holes, with proper alignment,
to a larger size and use a larger rivet. Another solution is to add
new rivets with sufficient edge spacing on each side of the bad holes
and rivet the two new holes or all three.

Welcome to the club.

I think I am going to order some of the larger rivets to see if they will fit first. How much area will they cover once they've been pulled? If I'm not comfortable with the fit after that I will probably add rivets to each side of the mis drilled holes. I could always just reorder the parts but I'm trying to learn as I go and trying these things will probably help most in the long run anyway! The rest of the holes were all drilled very well on both the ribs and the spar so hopefully one of these suggestions works! I appreciate eveyones suggestion I'm having a lot of fun with this!
