Had to go out last night for a school project for my girl....
or at least that's the perfect excuse for it.

Here's a photo series you RV-10 nuts might like....shows a
bunch of shots leading up to a big stall of the wing.

http://www.myrv10.com/N104CD/flights/20080414

Enjoy!
Tim

As always a great review! Thanks!

Here is a video to show the effects on stall as well.

About what I'd expect to see Tim. What's the time interval between
pictures if I might ask?

Cool, I never saw that link before. I did take video,
also, but haven't downloaded it and crunched it yet. I figure
she can play the video at school and use the photos for
explaining. Fun stuff! If I get the video all done soon
I'll add it to that original link of mine.

I'm not sure the interval...I just had her hold down the auto drive
on the camera...so maybe 2 or 3 shots per second or a bit less?
It did take quite a bit of work to get it really well into the
stall. I saw airspeeds in the 40's when I was stalling too.
(No, I don't mean I was flying at 40....I was stalled)
It was very interesting to see how hard I had to work to really get
a nasty stall though. I can't imagine someone stalling this plane
accidently, in a departure stall situation...it would take a
lot of work. When it buffets, you have lots of warning yet until
it gets wild.

What I really should do is videotape the EFIS during the stall.
I wasn't able to watch out the wing all the time, but I know
I saw pitch angles that were pretty steep...and red chevrons
telling me to knock it off. And all that crabbing (a kinder word)
from Betty....

Check this link for some of the physics invovled:

Probably too much for a 7 year old! Sometimes too much for a 42 yr old
Aerospace Engineer!

Tim,
Great pictures and writeup.

Another trick you can have your daughter do in class is take a sheet of
notebook paper, hold it by one edge with the page falling away from her face
and blow across the top. The page lifts and proves the faster air/lower
pressure element pretty simply.

Very nice graphics on the stall progression! I like that way it shows a non-theoretical flow toward the tip, not in a straight line but more on the diagonal. I noticed that was flaps down. Did you take any pics flaps up for comparison?

I did a couple with no flaps at first. Not sure if I have snapshots of
those though. It might be on the video when I get it ready.
