I noticed that as well. Actually, it looks like there are backside idlers
on BOTH sides of the belts, presumably to move the belts closer together
behind the frame. Still not a good idea (to have a backside idler on the
tension side).

You may well be right (that it is a bad idea in this application). That
doesn't mean it would _always_ be a bad idea.
